The Pylons site could use some social networking features, and these could be reusable components for other sites. We're not trying to recreate MySpace here, just listing features that would benefit the Pylons site or our own sites.

Things that would be useful on the Pylons site

Please list things in the order they could be implemented.

  • User accounts with a personal snapshot, text blurb, links. Link to the pylonsmisc:Pylons users world map.
  • Index page with snapshots of all users grouped by country/state.
  • Friends lists, with separate lists for in-person friends vs cyber friends
  • Custom friends lists for the developers of a certain Python project, with the project leader and a link to the project page or PyPI.

Confluence has personal spaces so that could do part of this. I've left off the obvious wiki/forums stuff because people will add it if they think it's necessary and isn't being served elsewhere.

Other social-networking features Pylons users have a need for

There are any projects based on Django that can be used as reference.

They are django-profile and django-hotclub
