The Pylons Book

The Definitive Guide to Pylons by James Gardner has now been published and is available worldwide from all good bookshops including Amazon. It can also be purchased for the Kindle or in e-book format.

Thank you to all who contributed feedback, I hope you find it a useful resource.

Read the book online here

If you prefer not to purchase the hard copy you can read an HTML version for free at the Pylons Book website at http://pylonsbook.com/. The reStructuredText source code is also linked from each chapter so that you can build your own copies of the book or submit source code patches.

Since the book is available under the open source GFDL with no invariant sections or cover texts it should be possible to include it with Linux distributions such as Debian. If you are a packager for Debian or other distributions and would like to package the book for inclusion into your distribution's repositories please get in touch with the author who would be happy to help you.

Happy reading!

The first chapters and a draft timetable will be posted here at the end of June 2007

Could someone who knows the status of the above please update this? Thank you!

Is this book still in the works and just delayed a bit?

I'm interested in this as well, please update.

Chapters 2-4 have an initial draft under technical review (by me). Several other chapters have a pre-draft written. I don't know James's schedule for publishing them to the web; he seems to be working on content instead at this point. The ongoing changes to Pylons are forcing more updates to the book than expected; this may account for the delay.

Yes, the book is very much still in production. The first draft is virtually completed - I'm just re-writing some of the later chapters so then we can start the reviewing and copy-editing phases.

Can we please get a copy of the current draft up? There is so little documentation out there... Drafting/making this book behind closed doors is a huge mistake.

Um...I think you'll get a pretty good taste of it with the 0.9.7 docs:

Hi. In the future I'm going to keep here links to their sites. But I do not worry about the sites where my link is removed. So if you do not want to see a mountain of links, simply delete this message. After 2 weeks, I will come back and check.

I am from Uganda and now study English, please tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "Side effects of synthroid can range from mild to severe."

Best regards , Liberty.
